A Pakora By Any Other Name Still Requires a Dip

Updated: Nov 22, 2018

I am working on the next book in the Bellydancing and Beyond series, Nefertiti has so many more stories to tell that I can no longer ignore her; and this time the inspiration is truly Scottish...

The story is built around food that some would say is the national food in Scotland; food from afar that we all love after a few and food we can never quite cook for ourselves...

Yes you guessed it, the inspiration for my next story is an Indian takeaway run by; as most are, Bangladeshi’s.

The working title is Four Takeaways and a Funeral, there is still some bellydancing, the old characters and few new ones…

And here is a wee excerpt just for you...

Emon speaks English in a literal fashion and cooks like no other. His pakoras are legendary, and a police shift is never complete without a bag of them. Lumpy took one bite of Emon’s pakoras and stated that they were the ‘dogs bullocks’. At first Emon took offense until he saw Lumpy’s review on trip advisor.

For the those of you frightened of a bit of spice head to Taj Mahal and ask for a chicken Pakora; I swear you’ll never look at a battered sausage again. His chicken is as soft as butter coated in batter that snap, crackles and pops with each bite, (he does over egg things)...and for those vegan out there- Emon will rustle up a tofu that would fool a Texan.

Like my biryanis- work in progress…
