Several years ago, inspired by my hamming it up in the local Pantomime, I started working on a novel called 30 Seconds.
It was a satirical comedy going nowhere fast, each character seemed to take centre stage. Then I realised each character had their own story to tell, and the stories was not a novel, but a series of Novellas.
Here are the first 3...
A Dame Called Derek - Diva Diaries
A romantic comedy with no age limits. Derek wants freedom from the pantomime, George the director and his mother. His mother, however, is determined her son will be the greatest Dame ever and as she holds the purse strings neither Derek or George can argue.
George befriends Charlie the writer and Deloris the costume designer. Together they create a costume and a part that has Derek running for his life-until his mother finds out. Then it is George who is not only running for his life but out of the pantomime, leaving Derek to fend for himself.
Will Derek break free or play the most miserable dame in a dress as laughable as a cat in pajamas?
A Dame Called Derek is the first novella in the Diva Diaries series. A laugh a minute farce set in the world of Scottish amateur dramatics. You will find romance, comic setups, and a fire, of epic proportion with an ending that will intrigue, entertain and have you chuckling in your shoes.
Panto Boy - Diva Diaries
Three women, one pantomime and a pole dancer, a romantic comedy with a difference. Lesley is a woman scorned, Deirdre is a woman trapped and Angus is a woman in crisis.
Agnus wants a second chance to flash across the stage as she did in her youth. Lesley wants Angus to give up and leave it all to the younger model. And Deirdre is trapped in the middle looking for a way out.
Panto Boy is the second novella in the Diva Diaries series. A laugh a minute farce set in the world of Scottish amateur dramatics. You will find romance, comic setups, and a more with an ending that will have you chuckling in your shoes.
Panto Girl - Diva Diaries
What has a secretary, Little Red Riding hood, a postman and a German traveller have in common? Not a lot, except they are all part of a pantomime in a small town full of characters looking for love, laughter and a bit of Scottish sunshine.
The postman has no idea he rubs the secretary up the wrong way. The secretary has no idea how to get rid of him. And Helmet the German traveller has met the love of his life but has yet to convince her son.
Panto Girl is the third novella in the Diva Diaries series. A laugh a minute farce set in the world of Scottish amateur dramatics. With pole dancing, chase scenes, and romance you find a story with an ending that will have you chuckling in your shoes and wanting to read more.
